Video Footage (plus backup) Outside Epstein’s Cell…“DESTROYED”

The more information coming forward, surrounding the mysterious death of accused sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein, the more convinced many believe he was murdered.

This latest revelation regarding the surveillance video footage, that was supposedly recording just outside Jeffrey Epstein’s prison cell during his alleged suicide attempt, was somehow “destroyed” along with a backup copy, is simply the latest mishap surrounding the bizarre death of the high profile inmate, who authorities claim committed suicide while in protective custody, while housed in a maximum-security jail cell, in lower Manhattan.

Red-faced prosecutors admitted on Thursday that prison staff had lost both the original and get this “backup videos” due to “several separate errors.”

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Maurene Comey and Jason Swergold told a federal court that original video recordings taken on July 22^nd and 23^rd located just outside Epstein’s cell was either lost or mistakenly destroyed.

Now it’s worth noting before we go any further that Maurene Comey, is the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, which isn’t to suggest anything nefarious, only that incompetence (if that’s what it is) apparently runs in the family.

In that, both Comey and Swergold initially told the court that the video footage was preserved, however less then 24-hours later Swergold reversed himself in a letter to the court stating that he and Comey had preserved a video from outside the wrong cell.

“The footage contained on the preserved video was for the correct date and time but captured a different tier than the one where Cell-1 was located because the preserved video did not show corrections officers responding to any of the cells seen on the video. After speaking with MCC legal counsel, the Government was informed that the MCC computer system listed a different, incorrect cell for Tartaglione,” they wrote.

Regarding the backup footage, the hapless duo explained, “The requested video no longer exists on the backup system and has not since at least August 2019 as a result of technical errors.”

Moreover, no one has yet explained what “technical errors” caused the backup system to suddenly fail.

Tartaglione was Epstein’s former cellmate; his lawyer Bruce Barket in a prepared statement criticized both attorneys for the Southern District of New York, in a scathing letter.

“It is stunning that a video which we asked to be preserved and which the jail should have saved without a request was destroyed. More troubling are the various and inconsistent accounts of what happened to the video. We believe that the video would have strongly corroborated our client’s assertion that he acted appropriately that evening and are deeply disturbed it has disappeared.”

Tartaglione, a former New York police officer, had told authorities he rescued Epstein from hanging himself that night. He had wanted to use the footage as evidence of his good character.

However on August 10^th Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell, moreover, another cellmate who was scheduled to share the cell with Epstein was suddenly transferred to another cell, two jail guards assigned to monitor Epstein every 30 minutes failed to do their jobs. And the two cameras that were supposedly videotaping outside Epstein’s cell, were somehow “unusable” according to the  FBI crime lab in Quantico, Virginia where agents and forensic scientists attempted to retrieve the footage.

Epstein’s death stunned the nation; soon a long list of breaches of protocol and incompetent behavior along with a series of bizarre occurrences on the night Epstein died became public.

And although the physical evidence as to the exact cause of death is still in question, the New York City coroner nevertheless ruled Epstein’s death a suicide, perhaps hoping to sweep it quickly under the rug.

However, renowned Forensic Pathologist Dr. Michael Baden, who has been hired by Mark Epstein to look into his brother’s death, has argued that the autopsy findings suggest murder.

Epstein, was a wealthy 66-year-old money manager who once counted former President Bill Clinton and Britain’s Prince Andrew as friends, was arrested on July 6^th  and pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking charges involving dozens of girls as young as 14.

Obviously, with such powerful friends, it’s more than just idle speculation that someone may have gotten to Epstein, before he could work out a plea agreement with prosecutors, and spill the beans.
