There is nothing worse than feeling like you are losing some of your brain’s strength and memory. From losing everyday household objects to spending hours trying to find them, memory issues can affect everyone to varying degrees. If you want to keep your mind as sharp as possible as you age though, these are some of the mindfulness tricks and exercises that you can practice.
1. Be consistent
Consistently placing your items in the same location will help you make a habit out of them. This will also help your brain easily remember where everything is placed without having to exert too much energy.
2. Repetition
If you find that you are having trouble with remembering information, this can include someone’s name, a location, or other facts, you can try to repeatedly say that until your brain retains them. For example, if you are having a conversation with someone, you can say their name to them several times as you are speaking, this will help engrave the information in your head.
3. Say it out loud
If you are performing an action you want to remember, you can try pairing the action with saying what you are doing out loud. This helps your brain make an active clear memory of the event. Naturally, this will also make it easier for you to remember things.
4. Drink water
Dehydration can negatively impact your brain. If you want your brain to remain sharp then you will need to drink water. This helps improve both clarity, as well as your ability to recall things and information faster.
Thank you for that statement, as it actually verifies especially point 1, 2 and 3, what I have been doing since a while now -and – that works (for me at least) every day. 🙂
