There is nothing more annoying than having a can and no can opener to open it with. Still, while a can opener may be the most efficient tool for this particular task, it doesn’t mean that it is the only one that can complete it. Therefore, here are a few of the easiest ways to open a can when you don’t have a can opener available.

Surprisingly, the first thing you can try is rubbing the can across a rough surface. A rock, concrete, and sandpaper should all be able to do the trick after a few minutes. All you will need to do is rub the top of the can against the rough surface vigorously. After about a minute the seal should be worn down. From there you can most likely just squeeze the can lightly and the top will pop off.

Alternatively, you can use a knife, screwdriver, or even a spoon to open up your can. First begin by placing your can on a flat surface, and from there slowly start puncturing the edges. Once you have managed to create an opening lift up the can top and pour out its content.

Finally, if all else fails use the infamous spoon method. With this method, you will need to use a spoon to grind down the inner edges of the can. Once you have managed to create a small opening, insert your spoon inside and lift the seal.
