A Memphis man has been charged with brutal crimes against two of his ex-girlfriends and the horrific abuse of the baby of one of them.
32-year-old Latherio Richard pleaded guilty to the shocking crimes.
The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Richard entered a plea of guilty to charges of aggravated child abuse, kidnapping, and aggravated burglary.
According to the statement, in March 2019, Richard’s then-girlfriend’s son was taken to the emergency room after suffering blisters on his feet and legs. Doctors reportedly determined the injuries were consistent with first- and second-degree burns “consistent with being immersed in hot water.”
The DA’s Office said Richard was babysitting the boy on the day the burns were discovered by medical personnel.
On January 28, 2018, Richard and his 22-year-old girlfriend reportedly were at a hotel on Shelby Oaks Drive when they got into an argument. Richard allegedly “pushed her head into a wall and refused to let her leave.”
Another incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of April 15, 2017. Richard reportedly went to his girlfriend’s apartment in Hickory Ridge to gather some of his personal items following their breakup. According to the statement, Richard “forced his way inside where he pushed and shoved the woman, causing her to fall and break her ankle.”
The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office said that after pleading guilty to the crimes, he was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
