High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is associated with a higher chance of causing a heart attack if left alone. The good thing is that lowering your blood pressure can be relatively easy so long as you make a few lifestyle changes. Cardiologist Dr. Leslie Cho has previously said that for the most part the lower you can keep your blood pressure the better, and these are some of the ways you can do that.

1. Dietary Changes

According to research plant-based, diets can be great for lowering your blood pressure. This does not necessarily mean cutting out meat and dairy completely. Instead, it could just mean scaling back your consumption. Just this one change can actually reduce your chances of getting a stroke by 14%, and a heart attack by 9% and can help reduce your overall mortality by around 7%.

2. Exercise

Exercising regularly can be great for improving your heart health and lowering your blood pressure. When you are exercising you should also focus on your breathing patterns as breathing can help bring down your blood pressure. You should also try to gradually increase your heart rate since sudden increases can actually cause hypertension.

3. Sleep

There is no better cure for high blood pressure than sleep. In fact, there have been studies that show that frequent napping caused by getting a bad night’s sleep could essentially be linked to high blood pressure. This is why it is crucial to get a good night’s sleep for better health.
