The Winter period can get extremely cold, especially depending on where you live. As a result, it can be quite a problem if your apartment or house ends up losing power. To prepare for potential power outages there are a few different things that you can do. These will make it easier for you to survive even when there isn’t any electricity.
1. Non-Perishable Food
The first thing to do is prepare for the situation where you are at home and unable to get out. In order to do that you will want to stock up on non-perishable foods that don’t require cooking or heating up. These basic goods can be incredibly important as they will keep your belly full. You also want to avoid any items that need to be refrigerated.
2. Water Supply
Much like with food you will want to also stock up on water, this can be key if you want to cook or keep from becoming extremely thirsty.
3. Gas heaters and grills
Having a gas grill could be the key to your cooking even when you have no power. Most small emergency cooktops use a propane tank to be fueled. There are also portable heaters that use similar technology, so you might be able to have both warm food and heat.
